Book Week: Psy/Changlings

As exhibited by my vampire post earlier this week, I'm a sucker for paranormal romance. This one is a bit futuristic and a whole lot of awesome. The Psy/Changling series by Nalini Singh is one of my most favorites. The Psy race have extrodinary powers but are trained to be emotionless while the Changling race can transform into animals and are warm and loving. I absolutely love reading about confused Psy trying to get a handle on emotions and about the crazy and wild Changling packs dealing with being around the colder race.

If you are looking for a series that will make you grin and laugh and get caught up in the action, I suggest you read this one!

Book Week: Troubleshooters

Since I did historical yesterday I thought I would go in the opposite direction and talk about a fun, action packed series that is ultra-modern. This is the Troubleshooters series by Suzanne Brockmann. It is about a group of ultra tough ex-Navy SEALs and some FBI people thrown in for fun. This book series is a crazy journey, but so good to read. My favorite thing about the series is Jules Cassidy. He's pretty much the most awesome character of all and he even got his own special book just for his wedding. Why is that awesome? Well, he was marrying a guy. The gay best friend rarely gets romance and if he does, it is played in a comical way. Suzanne Brockmann is not afraid of real life issues and I love her books.

Book Week: Historical Romance

Today I'm tackling a genre that I don't really read that often: Historical Romance. I'm a slave to technology and it drives me crazy when slight misunderstandings that could be cleared up in an email or a phone call take days of travel to fix. Also, I know that the books are complete fiction, but it still makes me sad to think that all of the characters I fall in love with would be nothing more than bones in a box by now. And with that depressing thought, let me rec some books!

The Wallflower series by Lisa Kleypas is the shortest series I'm going to talk about today, so I thought it should go first. This series is so sweet and wonderful. Devil in Winter is my hands-down most favorite historical romance. There is just something amazing about the story of redemption and going against conventions to lead a happy life. The books are great and so much fun to read!




The next series I'm going to talk about is the Knight Miscellany series by Gaelen Foley. Unlike the two other book series in this post, this one is dark. There are unpleasant parts and that is just how it is. It is a wonderful series and I don't think I can ever say enough good things about it.





It would probably get me in trouble with the historical romance fans I know if I didn't mention the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn. This series always makes me smile. I love all of the Bridgertons and reading the series makes me want to be part of their giant family!





I also really enjoy Lynsay Sands' historicals (she's written quite a lot and they are all very hilarious). You can see the rest of my historical romance reviews here

Book Week: In Death

I thought for today I would focus on my current book series obsession: JD Robb's (aka Nora Roberts) In Death series. I first started listening to the audiobooks of this series in March and fell in love. The series is so great and I adore the characters. I'd hears so many positive things about the series, so I wanted to see what the fuss was all about. Also, I love long series and this is the longest series I've ever come across. I'm currently a little over halfway in my second listen of the series and it is still wonderful even while knowing who the killer is. As always, the book covers lead to the original review entry.
