Filler Friday: Neutra Face

I kind of wish it was still font week, because this song is perfect for it! I'm tagging it with the font week tag anyway, since this video didn't even exist until after it was over. The song is a parody of Lady Gaga's Poker Face, which I've heard of but never actually listened to. I heard it when the Rich Weirdoes (the Orlando Rocky Horror shadowcast) used it during their pre-show, but other than that I have gone without hearing any of her songs.

This song has actually gotten me to listen to Poker Face, but that song is not nearly as wonderful as Neutra Face. I want to high five everyone who shared this on twitter and google reader. I love it.

Font Week: My Favorite Fonts

I haven't really shared my favorite fonts, but I have shared ones I used for crafting and for my videos. The fonts below are ones I love to use. I love the look of Boopee Bold (couldn't find a free source for it, my apologies) and use it for my personal address labels. When creating address labels to ship items sold on etsy, I use Bitch Cakes. And anyone who has received mail from me, I always use Pupcat for the recipient of the package. If I write a letter or note I most often use Black Boys on Mopeds (I also use that font quite a bit in other places). And finally, I really like the look of Black Metal Sans. I haven't had a chance to use it much, but it is so pretty.

Font Week: A Song!

I'm actually quite surprised that font week has been mainly videos, but I'm pleased with it. This is unlike the other videos I've posted, because this is a song about fonts! I was way more excited than a reasonable person should be.

And if that tune sounded familiar to you, it is from Tom Lehrer's amazing song about the elements! That video is below.

I hate that font!

I am obsessed with certain fonts as well as repulsed by others. This is an entry about those fonts that I would like to never see again.

The first is a font that I cannot remember the name of. I used to have it on my computer but I deleted it. It is used on a highly annoying sign downtown.

Another of my giant font hates is Comic Sans. I just cannot stand that font at all. I know there were movements to get rid of Comic Sans (like that would ever happen, lol), and other people actively hate it. I just try to avoid that font. It is one of the most ugly ones out there.

Another font I hate is Papyrus (and Tempus Sans, which is very similar to it). I don't know what it is about it, but it drives me absolutely batty. Whenever I see it used anywhere my teeth clench. I have no idea why I have such a strong reaction to a lame font, but I do. I'm weird like that.

But there is one font that is the queen of all horrible fonts: Kristen. There is a very large car dealership in Orlando that actually uses this font on their scrolling sign. If I ever need a car while I'm in Orlando I will actively avoid this place because of this font.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I'm a major font snob.

Font Fight!

This video is a sequel to Font Conference (the post from Sunday), but sadly it is not as amazing.

Crafty Monday: Using Fonts

When I start liking a font, I use it on as many things as possible. When it comes to crafting, it'll most likely be seen on a t-shirt or a cross stitch. Here are a few fonts that I've used for both. The font name clicks through to where you can download it.

Red October
Zydrate cross stitch | Zydrate Shirt 3

Cooper Black
usually comes standard on a computer
Fire in the Disco! | Fiya in the Disco, Fiya in the Taco Bell (w/ flash)

Pupcat
Proud Hooker | We do the weird stuff

Also, since I'm a giant dork, I love the Harry Potter themed fonts. Here are two cross stitches that use Lumos and Parseltongue. I made a chart of the Lumos font a few months ago, but never had a reason to upload it; now I do!

Home Sweet Home Close-up | Proud Pureblood scan

Lumos cross stitch chart
lumos alphabet | lumos numbers punctuation

Note: Just realized that everything, with the exception of the two items done with the Red October font, in this post was a gift for someone else. :P

Font Week!

*kicks blogger* I had this set to post yesterday, but it didn't. I don't know why. :P

This week I'm talking all about fonts. I have a bit of a font obsession and I proudly admit that I am a font snob. For this first day I am sharing one of my favorite videos ever created.

And of course, if I like something I'm going to make a craft about it. Here is a t-shirt based on the video.
